DCF&S recently conducted its first ever “Sowing of Seeds” workshop sponsored
by the DCF&S Conservation Committee.  Young participants created “hothouses” (plastic
milk bottles) in which Common Milkweed seeds and other pollinator-attracting seeds were sown.

Participants each made 1 “hothouse” for the club’s garden and additional ones for their home property.

Once germinated, the seedlings will be transplanted to a designated
Butterfly Garden at the club. It will provide butterflies, and specifically the endangered Monarch
butterfly, with food, shelter and a place to lay its eggs.

An example of great work being done by our member families and the Conservation Committee!
